An Evening on the Nile in the Heart of Cairo
After a day of pyramids and museums, the Nile is the best place to see Cairo at its most relaxed. On this dinner cruise you board a floating restaurant in central Cairo and sail slowly along the river while the city lights up around you: the illuminated bridges, the Cairo Tower on Gezira Island and the hotels along the Corniche. Dinner, music and live shows fill the evening, and hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so there is nothing to arrange.
It is one of the most popular evening activities in Cairo, and a good way to spend your first or last night in Egypt.
How the Evening Unfolds
Your driver collects you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza in the early evening and takes you to the marina, where the crew welcomes you on board and shows you to your table. Dinner is served soon after the boat casts off, and the shows follow while you sail. The boat moves slowly through central Cairo for around two hours, so there is time to eat, watch the performers and step out on deck for photographs of the city lights before returning to the dock and your ride back to the hotel.
The Entertainment
- Tanoura show: a traditional Egyptian dance with roots in Sufi whirling. The dancer spins for many minutes without stopping, and the layered, brightly colored skirts open out like wheels of color.
- Belly dance: a performance of raqs sharqi, the classic Egyptian style of belly dancing, set to Egyptian music.
- Live entertainment: music and shows through the evening, which vary by boat and by night.
Dinner on Board
Dinner is served from a set menu while the boat sails. Drinks are not included in the price and can be ordered on board. If you are vegetarian or have allergies or other dietary needs, tell us in the special requests field when you book.
Standard or VIP Seating
The evening includes two shows, an oriental show and a western show, as well as your dinner and the transfers both ways. The price per person depends on the season and the size of your group, and is listed in the price table above.

Three to four hours door to door on an evening in Cairo. Boarding times change with the season, so we confirm yours when you book.
A driver collects you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza and brings you down to the mooring. You board before the boat casts off, which is the quiet part of the evening and the best time to settle at your table.
The boat pulls away from the bank and turns into the current. Cairo is a different city from the water at this hour: the bridges light up, the towers along the corniche come on, and the traffic you have spent the day in becomes something happening far away.
A set-menu dinner, served while the boat sails. Your table is yours for the whole evening, so there is no rush between the food and the shows.
Two live performances during the cruise. A belly dancer, and a Tanoura dancer - the Sufi spinning dance, where the performer turns without stopping for the length of the piece while the layered skirts lift and change colour under the lights. Both are performed in the centre of the floor, so every table has the view.
There is an open deck to step out onto between the food and the entertainment. It is the best view of the evening and the reason to bring a camera that copes with low light.
The boat returns to the same mooring and your driver takes you back to your hotel in Cairo or Giza. Dinner, the shows and the transfers both ways are all in the price.
